Description

In 1598, Jakob Atzenholz-Zollikofer von Tattenwiler built Neuhorn castle near Lake Constance. After a fire in 1633, Abbot Augustin I. Gimmi revived it in 1664 as a simple cube-shaped structure. In 1833, it became the Thurgau Teacher Training Seminar, later passing to the canton of Thurgau in 1848. In 1870, Gottfried Ferdinand Amman reconstructed the castle into a historicist masterpiece, enhanced by son August's park. Georg Gottfried Volkart-Ammann continued its legacy from 1907. In 1958, it became part of Kreuzlingen, undergoing extensive renovations in 1982–1984. Since 1993, it's a restaurant and event space, blending history with modernity.
