Description
In Ueberstorf, there's a church called St. John the Baptist, built in 1898 where an older church used to be. Some parts, like the tower, were kept from the old church. Ueberstorf has three castles too, built by wealthy families from Freiburg. In the middle of the village is Englisberg Castle, built in 1505. From 1881 to 1971, it belonged to the Ingenbohler Sisters. Now it's restored and used for culture, meetings, and conferences. Techtermann House, built in the 18th century, was a French-style mansion. It was the village school from 1912 to 1971. Reyff Castle, from the late 16th century, was where the architect and sculptor Hans-Franz Reyff lived. In the village center and hamlets, there are old farmhouses from the 17th to 19th centuries. Some hamlets have chapels too.

Just 10 minutes from the heart of Bern is this quaint castle hotel and restaurant. The accommodations appear a bit rustic but my guess is the food is very good (I’ve not had the chance to eat there, but I have met the owners).
