Description

The Presidential Palace in Warsaw, Poland, boasts a rich history dating back to its construction in the 1640s by Great Crown Hetman Stanisław Koniecpolski. Originally a theater during the Great Sejm (=Polish Lower Parlament) session, it later became the seat of the Governor and witnessed Chopin's first public performance in 1818.

Throughout the 20th century, the palace underwent transformations, serving as the seat of the Prime Minister and even becoming Deutsches Haus during German occupation. Post-World War II, it regained its public functions, hosting historic events like the signing of the Warsaw Pact in 1955.

In 1989, the Round Table sessions marked the beginning of democratic changes in Poland. After renovations in 1994, it became the official residence of the President, witnessing key moments like the signing of the Constitution (1997) and Poland's accession to NATO (1999) and the EU (2003).

The palace's rooms, including the Main Hall and Column Hall, play vital roles in hosting international conferences and significant ceremonies. The Banquet Hall, also known as the Painting Hall, showcases paintings during events, and the Winter Salon, created in 2000, symbolizes a blend of secession with modernity.

The Round Table, once in the Column Hall and now in the right wing, symbolizes historic talks and hosts lessons of history for students since 2009. Overall, the Presidential Palace stands as a symbol of Poland's political history and a venue for crucial diplomatic events, reflecting the nation's past and present.
