Description
Originally erected in the 16th century to house the Augustinian friars' convent, this palace stands adjacent to the Church of Santa Maria delle Assi. In 1788, it underwent a comprehensive restoration led by the Modenese architect and painter Giuseppe Maria Soli, following the vision of its new owner, Venetian singer Caterina Bonafini. However, she opted to sell the complex even before the restoration reached completion. The palace found new owners in the Spezzani brothers, who deviated from the initial renovation plan and resided there until 1859. Later, it came under the ownership of Marquis Giuseppe Pietro Schedoni, passing through the hands of various noble proprietors until 1960. At that juncture, the structure underwent a transformation into the currently operational Hotel Canalgrande.
