Description
Built on a hill by Pierre de Savoie in 1239, Romont Castle features a large keep completed around 1260, possibly with the involvement of Pierre Meynier, a Savoyard engineer. The structure partially collapsed in 1579 but was reconstructed by the end of the century. The castle, known for its "carré savoyard" geometric design, is considered a Swiss national cultural heritage site.
