Description
During its construction, Solitude Palace faced political and financial challenges. Duke Carl Eugen, a prince fond of grandeur, led the project. However, the costs strained the Duchy of Württemberg, leading to political conflicts and the eventual relocation of the court. The Karlsschule, founded in 1770 by Carl Eugen, educated notable figures like Friedrich von Schiller. Over time, Solitude's use declined, and the site deteriorated. In the mid-20th century, extensive renovations were undertaken, restoring its grandeur. Later, the palace became a hub for artistic activities, hosting musicians, actors, and other creatives until 1986.
