Sargans Castle embodies two hundred years of the county and more than three centuries of varied bailiffs' reign. At the end of the 19th century, the burghers bought Sargans built the dilapidated building and saved it from final decay through numerous renovations. Today, the old Count's Castle houses one of the most important local history museums in Europe. It In 1983, the Council of Europe was the first Swiss museum to receive the "Museum of the Year" award. In 1991, the Proppaganda Commission of the St. Gallen Winegrowers' Association, which was founded in 1977 at Schloss Sargans, and also built a Torkellkeller. One more reason for wine lovers to stop at the former bailiwick seat. In addition to the old press, wines can be tasted and on the wall you can see a selection of St. Gallen wines.
