The distinctive historic building in the old town now serves as a residence. This protected structure, located in the town center and once a renowned eatery for over two centuries, was initially associated with a butcher shop. Historical records indicate a rich history, mentioning activities such as a bathhouse in 1451, reconstruction in 1648, the operation of a tannery in 1690, the establishment of a brewery in 1786, a wood delivery for a butcher shop in 1790, the removal of a city wall section for a turning shop in 1811, and the construction of a new barn in 1837. In 1954, the building received approval for transformation into a castle restaurant. (Source: Stiftung Ortsbild, Steckborn)
