Miravet Castle

Miravet, situated in the comarca of Ribera d'Ebre in the Province of Tarragona, Catalonia, Spain, has a rich historical heritage. Founded by the Moors, the village and its castle were later reconstructed by the Knights Templar, evolving into a formidable fortress-monastery after the conquest in 1153. Renowned as the largest fortified complex in Catalonia, Miravet stands as a testament to the remarkable fusion of Romanesque architecture, both religious and military. It is considered one of the finest examples of the Templar order's architectural prowess in the entire Western world.
