Description

Built in 1282 by Abbot Albrecht von Ramstein, the Turmhof in Steckborn, Switzerland, served as a tax-exempt residence with asylum rights. Acquired by the community in 1639, it later became a museum in 1937, showcasing the Untersee region's cultural history. Renovations in 2017 preceded the museum's reopening in 2018. The collection includes prehistoric artifacts, Roman and Alemannic items, with a focus on Steckborn's oven construction and lace-making. The Turmhof hosts temporary exhibitions, and a notable 2019 collaboration with the Rosgartenmuseum, Konstanz, explored the theme "Gefährlicher See" (Dangerous Lake).
