Description

The Napoleon Museum, within the well-preserved Schloss Arenenberg owned by the Canton of Thurgau, showcases furnished rooms on two floors. The ground floor includes spaces like the Winter Garden and Dining Room, adorned with Empire-era paintings. Empress Eugénie's gifting of the castle led to the refurnishing of some rooms. The adjacent neogothic chapel faces the lake, while the estate hosts the Thurgau Agricultural and Household Education Center. The Schlosspark, restored in 2008, is a European cultural monument with a 12-hectare English garden designed by Queen Hortense. It features scenic views of Lake Constance, embellished with structures like the Hermitage. The park also houses a historical ice cellar and a vault, believed to be part of the historic toilet facilities, both nestled in the sandstone embankment.
