Description

Baron Félix Bouvier d’Yvoire initiated significant restoration work on the Château d'Yvoire between 1926-27 and 1938-1939. The donjon underwent transformations, including the reconstruction of the roof and four corner turrets in 1939. The place and some of the moats were replaced by gardens.

Château d'Yvoire, a quadrangular tower, traces back to the early 13th century, standing at 40 meters with a rectangular base on four levels. Originally fortified, it was surrounded by defensive walls and moats, protecting it from the town of Yvoire. In 1986, the castle's former vegetable garden became the "Labyrinthe Jardin des Cinq Sens," a renowned tourist botanical garden. Yvoire, with its medieval village, is part of Pays de Savoie's heritage and a member of the "Les Plus Beaux Villages de France" association since 1982.
