Münchenwiler Castle

This is a castle for a family weekend. With extensive grounds, fussball, a pool table, board games, and a modern hotel wing, you are sure to keep the kids happy and busy during your stay! And the incredible walled town of Murten (Morat in French) is a 25 minute walk away. On a wonderful lake, Murten is full of history (e.g. the important battle of Murten that ensured Swiss independence from a envious French duke), with a rampart walk for tourists that takes you back centuries. And for a fine dinner, try Schloss Münchenwiler's restaurant, which is surrounded by quaint arcades and offers fine French and local cuisine. If you visit in mid January, you will also enjoy the Light Festival, an annual festival full of illusions and a spectacular light show. Dress warmly because in January, it's very cold!
