Schatten Castle

The Schattenburg, standing since the 15th century, has a rich history. It returned to Habsburg control in 1436. Over the years, it saw military use, and in 1825, Feldkirch acquired it. Saved by a local heritage group in 1912, it became a museum in 1916/17. Despite plans to turn it into a Nazi stronghold, it narrowly escaped destruction in World War II. Today, it hosts Feldkirch's largest history museum and a restaurant with panoramic views of the old town.
