Description

Schloss Favorite stands as a testament to German heritage, being the oldest surviving "porcelain palace" in the country, retaining its original form. What sets it apart is its remarkable collection of Chinese porcelain, black lacquerware, and Schwartz Porcelain (stoneware with black-gold lacquer painting).

Surrounded by a once-baroque pleasure garden, Schloss Favorite was adorned with alleys, symmetrical parterres featuring water features, and orangery during the Margravine's time. The adjacent pheasantry woods housed various breeding and feeding stations for game. In 1718, a hermitage was built, providing a retreat for the Margravine's contemplation. In the late 18th century, the castle garden was modernized and transformed into a landscaped garden by court gardener Johann Michael Schweyckert. This transformation has largely defined the estate's character, offering scenic views of meadows, ponds, sightlines, and waterways that continue to captivate visitors today.
